How Does Laser Vein Removal Work?
Nonsurgical laser vein reduction sessions are completed in our Reno, NV office as an outpatient procedure in about 20 – 40 minutes based on the size and number of areas treated. During your procedure, you will relax in a reclined position in one of our treatment rooms as the skin is cleaned. At your request, a topical anesthetic may be applied before your treatment to minimize any discomfort. The vessel soaks in the laser energy, which collapses and closes the walls of the veins. You will be allowed to leave our office as soon as you feel comfortable to resume your regular day.
Following your laser vein removal treatment, you may experience bruising, swelling, and redness; however, these side effects should dissipate in about 1 – 2 weeks. Support or compression garments should be worn for quicker healing to increase your blood circulation. It is necessary to avoid extended exposure to UV rays, and you should apply sunscreen frequently to areas that have been treated. Some patients notice improvements immediately, but the timing of results will differ for everyone. During your initial consultation, we will work with you to set realistic expectations and provide recommendations on the number of sessions necessary to achieve best results.
