What are Chemical Peels?

To provide the highest quality results from chemical peel aesthetic treatments, RenewMD Medical Spa provides you with different choices. Your individualized chemical peel with exfoliating solutions (such as salicylic, glycolic, lactic, and trichloroacetic acids) will reveal smoother, healthier skin. At our Reno, NV office, we offer chemical peel treatments that help to solve skin abnormalities, like scars, fine lines, wrinkles, dry patches, hyperpigmentation issues, and more. Chemical peels eliminate damaged, dead skin cells with the application of a personalized treatment on your skin that causes the surface layer to peel off. As your skin heals and starts to repair and rejuvenate itself, you may notice a smoother, clearer complexion. A chemical peel facial is a noninvasive procedure to make your skin luminous and may be appropriate for the neck and face.

How Do Chemical Peels Work?

At your procedure at RenewMD Medical Spa, we will have you lying down in a relaxed position to administer your peel. We will make sure the skin is cleaned before applying the personalized solution to the face, neck, or both. We will brush the solution onto the skin and allow it to work for a specific length of time, which will be discussed in your chemical peel planning session. Finally, we will wash the peel off your skin and put on a neutralizing agent. You should bring light sunscreen and/or a hat to wear outside after the peel to protect against environmental exposure.

Depending on the chemical peel strength, your skin can peel and itch for several days to two or more weeks. During your appointment, Janette or a team member will explain methods to treat your skin. Remember that no matter how much your skin itches throughout the healing process, picking the skin off is never a good idea. You could create scarring on your delicate skin.

I spoke with Lissette on the phone to set up the initial consultation. I found her to be friendly and helpful. Once I arrived, the office ladies were welcoming and friendly. Brittany did my consultation and I was pleasantly surprised when she told me I was not a good candidate for the fat reduction cool sculpting procedure. She could easily have said I was the perfect candidate and taken my money. She offered other options for my fat reduction. After she told me about a skincare regime, she gave me a sample packet. I would recommend Renew MD. Five star!

About Us
How much does a chemical peel cost?

Janette can go over your costs during your consultation as soon as She has developed your personalized treatment plan. The cost of a chemical peel can vary based on the formula you get. RenewMD Medical Spa takes many payment methods, and there are often specials on skin treatments like chemical peels. Buying a package with several chemical peel treatments can also help you save money.

What level should I choose for my chemical peel?

Which level of chemical peel is best for you will vary based on your unique skin issues and aesthetic goals. During your consultation with Janette, she will help you decide which peel is best for your skin. Some things you might want to consider are your overall health, your skin type, the depth of your skin concerns, how long you can spend in recovery, and what you want the peel to accomplish. Initially, it may be better to try a light peel and decide how you like the results. From there, you and Janette may tweak your treatment plan to discover the best chemical peel level for your skin.

Should I get a chemical peel or dermabrasion treatment?

Dermabrasion and chemical peels are both facial treatments that treat surface imperfections to make your skin a rejuvenated appearance. The major difference is that dermabrasion requires special tools (a shaving instrument or rotating brush) to remove the top layer of skin through a careful scraping process. A chemical peel uses a caustic solution that is applied to your skin to dissolve dead and damaged skin cells. In your consultation, Janette will discuss the advantages of both options and help you decide whether dermabrasion or a chemical peel is best for your skin goals.

Will my face hurt after a chemical peel?

Based on the formula used, you may feel mild discomfort when it is on your skin. If you choose a lighter peel, you will probably notice a little discomfort, but this goes away quickly with the use of a small fan. Deep or medium peels are good for deeper problems and longer-lasting results; however, they typically are more uncomfortable. Topical anesthetics, medications, and soothing ointments can be applied to help you feel more comfortable during your chemical peel. Janette or a member of our team will go over skin care tips after your chemical peel to maintain your results.

Can I combine a chemical peel with other treatments?

You may consider combining a chemical peel with another nonsurgical skin treatment at RenewMD Medical Spa. In your initial consultation, be open with Janette about your skin and cosmetic issues so She can create a unique treatment plan to achieve your goals. Your plan may include adding consmetic injectables (like dermal fillers or BOTOX®) to rejuvenate your entire appearance.
