What Causes Cellulite?
2/13/2022
Chances are good, especially if you are a woman, that you have some cellulite. This dimpled, uneven skin can make you feel self-conscious but attempts to improve it with diet or exercise usually fail. Even people in great physical shape can have cellulite. At Renew MD, we treat your cellulite to restore your self-confidence.
What is Cellulite?
The dimpled “orange peel” appearance of cellulite comes from fibrous bands of collagen that form under the skin. These bands can adhere to the skin, tethering it down to the muscle and causing dimples. The bands also change the distribution of fat, contributing to the unevenness of the skin.
What Causes Cellulite?
Cellulite is often inherited in the form of skin type and tendency to develop fibrous bands. Factors like skin thickness, elasticity, and strength affect whether you will develop cellulite. Hormones have a significant role in whether you develop cellulite since the condition happens much more often in women than in men.
How is Cellulite Treated?
You have many treatment options for cellulite, but at Renew MD we recommend the Venus Freeze™ Legacy. This system uses multi-polar radiofrequency (RF) energy and pulsed magnetic fields to stimulate your skin cells to start a process of healing and rejuvenation.
In response to this energy, the skin cells begin to produce collagen. This firms and tightens the skin, leaving the treated area looking smoother and more even. Cells also make more elastin, the protein that gives the skin resilience and elasticity.
What Results Will I See With Cellulite Treatment?
The Venus Freeze™ Legacy causes no discomfort, and treatment lasts only about 30 minutes depending on the size of the treatment area. We recommend six sessions for the face, eight for the neck, and ten for the body. Your results will start to develop a few weeks after your first session and will improve as your body continues to build collagen. You can see your final results three to four months after your last treatment.
You can expect your results to last three to four months, although they can last much longer with occasional maintenance treatments. Skin will continue to tighten and become more youthful-looking as new collagen and elastin restore its natural support network. You will see a steady improvement in the appearance of cellulite dimples, and your skin will look smoother and more even.
Is There Any Downtime With Cellulite Treatment?
The Venus Freeze™ Legacy requires no downtime. You can return to your daily routine as soon as you finish treatment. The RF and magnetic energy cause no injury to the skin, making this a remarkably gentle way to address cellulite.
Am I a Good Candidate for Cellulite Treatment?
Most people make good candidates for cellulite treatment with the Venus Freeze™ Legacy. If you have any health problems, we always recommend discussing them during your consultation. Since this treatment is completely non-invasive, it is safe for almost everyone.
